We’re asking our wonderful local community for your help.
St George’s Medical Centre was built in 2003 without air conditioning, and unfortunately, air conditioning is not currently funded through NHS premises funding. As our summers become hotter, some areas of the practice can become extremely warm and uncomfortable.
This is particularly concerning for our patients who are elderly, frail or living with long-term health conditions, who can be more vulnerable to the effects of extreme heat. It also makes working conditions challenging for our staff.
We have already installed air conditioning in several of the larger shared areas of the practice, including the waiting room, reception, dispensary and cancer suite. However, 16 consultation and administrative rooms are still without air conditioning.
We know this is a significant amount, which is why we are appealing to our patients, local businesses, community organisations, charities and the wider Littleport community to see if we can raise the funds together.
Our Patient Participation Group (PPG) is supporting the project, and fundraising will take place through PULSE Charity.
If you would like to support our appeal, you can:
We are incredibly proud to be part of the Littleport community and hope that, with your support, we can make St George’s a more comfortable and welcoming environment for our patients and staff for many years to come.
