(Updated August 2020) Latest advice and information about coronavirus (COVID-19)

(Updated August 2020)

The latest information on coronavirus infection including checking if you have symptoms, testing and tracing, self-isolating, people at higher risk and social distancing can be found at https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19

NHS advice is that anyone (including children) with a new persistent cough or fever (>37.8 C) should self-isolate for 10 days and get tested; there is no need to contact NHS111 or other healthcare providers. Do not come to the GP Practice.

Get a test if you have symptoms

If you have symptoms, get a test to check if you have coronavirus as soon as possible.

The test needs to be done in the first 5 days of having symptoms.

How long to self-isolate

If you have symptoms or have tested positive for coronavirus, you’ll usually need to self-isolate for at least 10 days.

You’ll usually need to self-isolate for 14 days if:

  • someone you live with has symptoms or tested positive
  • someone in your support bubble has symptoms or tested positive
  • you’ve been told by NHS Test and Trace that you’ve been in contact with someone who has coronavirus

Everyone is reminded to follow the public health advice on the NHS website to avoid catching or spreading coronavirus.

Please be aware our clinicians will be using phone, text and online messaging as the first method of contact, saving face-to-face consultations for patients who need to be seen in person.

You can help by not coming to the Practice without an appointment, and by registering for the askmyGP online system.

Thank you, St George’s Medical Centre.
