Dr Diston moved from Cardiff to read medicine at Trinity College Cambridge. She did her clinical studies at Addenbrooke’s Hospital and qualified in 1986. She stayed in Cambridge to complete her GP training and was subsequently a partner in Cottenham for five years. Following a two year sabbatical in Boston, USA Dr Diston returned to the Cambridge area as a Locum before joining St George’s in 2011. She works three days a week and is the clinical lead for Gynaecology and currently sees all the patients requesting contraceptive coils and implants. When not in work, Dr Diston walks with a local group and has rekindled her patchwork skills.
