Repeat prescriptions

Click here to order your repeat prescriptions online using SystmOnline

(Please do not submit repeat prescriptions via AskmyGP unless these relate to contraception or HRT).

First-time users for SystmOnline are required to complete a simple registration – Please ask at our dispensary if you wish to set this up.

You may leave your request for a repeat prescription in the box at the dispensary, post through the secure letterbox at any time or post it to the surgery. Simply tick the items you need on the right-hand section of your previous prescription form.

Please help us by not putting in requests for repeat prescriptions too early.

Please put your repeat medication requests in 7 working days before your medication is due, but certainly no later than 3 days before due.

Our dispensary team and prescribers need a minimum of 3 working days turnaround time to process requests and have your medication ready for collection.

In exceptional circumstances we can arrange medication sooner than 3 working days. For example going away on holiday, or going into hospital. However, it is important to communicate this clearly to the dispensers. A handwritten note on your repeat request will be sufficient.

Thank you for your help.

In line with national guidelines we will usually only issue one month’s supply of medication at a time, this is to reduce the huge cost of wastage to the NHS by people not taking their medications. If you need extra (to cover a holiday for example) please talk to the dispensary manager or your GP. The surgery prescribes medication in line with the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough CCG Formulary.

Please note, dispensary staff are not permitted to prepare repeat prescriptions on demand. If you run out of medication, you will be asked to discuss this with the duty doctor for a same day prescription.

NHS charges

  • The current prescription charge is £9.65 per item (£16.80 per pair of elastic hosiery)

If you need regular prescriptions, then you may want to think about buying a Prescription Prepayment Card (PPC)

  • A three monthly PPC is £31.25 and could save you money if you need more than three prescribed items in three months.
  • A 12-month certificate is £111.60 and could save you money if you need more than 12 prescribed items in a year.

PPCs are available by 10 monthly direct debit instalment payments. The prescription prepayment certificates allow anyone to obtain all the prescriptions they need for £2 per week.

Medication reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor or nurse practitioner at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip. Please contact the practice via askmyGP for a medication review to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.

Please allow three full working days for prescriptions to be processed and remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account.
